In 1966, this group of growers established their own company which still exists today. Tabacos Hondureffos is in charge of fermenting, curing and aging tobacco. On the five farms, which are located in the province of Copan , tobacco was grown one thousand years ago by the Mayan Indian Civilization. It was precisely from this area that Spain obtained the finest quality tobacco in colonial times. These farms have enabled our company, Fabrica de Tabacos La Flor de Copan to create the ideal blend, which is then properly aged for the manufacturing of our fine cigars. At the end of the 19 th century, Santa Rosa became known and grew in importance through a cigar factory “Factoria”, which the Spanish established when Santa Rosa was still known as “Llanos de Copan”.
